Tawney's had a life of sadness.

It's tough to watch your mom die.

It's tough to be young and pregnant.

But it's even tougher when the people who are supposed to take care of you don't.

Tawney is the sole remaining offspring of a beautiful calico girl whose owners let her die giving birth to the NEXT litter of kittens, which they then threw out in the trash--still living.

Tawney witnessed her mother dying, a kitten stuck in the birth canal. Tawney witnessed her owners throwing away her mother's next litter. Tawney lived on her own at the house, outside, with kibble and water when the owners felt like it.

And as soon as Tawney went into heat the first time, she got pregnant.

Rather than watch her endure what her mother had gone through, some neighbors, who had been secretly feeding her, asked the owner if they could have her. Initially, he refused, but later, when he realized she was pregnant, he agreed.

But the rescuers were fearful that if they had her, the previous owner might want her back--he was not a nice person. So they asked for help from Happy Cat Adoptions, and Tawney is here. Safe. Comfortable.

As small as she is, and as young, the kittens didn't make it.

Now Tawney is ready and willing to start looking for a new home, a new life, a life without loss and sadness and grief. A life where she doesn't have to wonder if she'll get fed today, or if someone will let the garage door open so she can shelter from the rain. A life where she doesn't get kicked and rocks aren't thrown at her when she cries for food or whimpers at the door when it's cold.

Maybe you have a place in your heart and home for a girl whose had nothing but bad breaks. Everyone knows some sadness--everyone gets a bad break now and then. But a young girl like Tawney shouldn't have to spend her life thinking life is nothing but bad breaks.

She's looking for a home where someone will cuddle her to their heart and tell her she's cherished, that she'll always be safe, that she'll always be cared for. She wants a place where the food comes regularly, and there's a soft, warm place to sleep.

If you think you'd like to take her to your heart and home, go to her webpage at www.HappyCatAdoptions.org and under her photo, click the adoptions link to take you to the online adoption application. Someone from Happy Cats will call or email as soon as we can (we're all volunteers here).

For more information, contact her foster dad directly at haroldw1@sbcglobal.net. He'll be glad to brag about his baby.
